Almost August, already???

This past week has flown by, heck, this whole MONTH has flown by! I just wanted to let you all know what's been on the agenda for my summer thus far as far as my fitness regiment. I started Les Mills Combat some time in May, and have recently just finished the program. I absolutely loved it! The cardio portions were awesome and went by so quickly because of all of the music tracks and energy the trainers gave! The lifting and plyometric workouts were awesome as well. I loved the variety of the calendar because it kept me from getting burnt out due to repeated workouts multiple times weekly, and the program was just long enough to where I wasn't feeling overwhelmed. I had great results (no inches or weight lost, but my goal since February has been to maintain), but I did see a little more definition in the core, which is ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated! I love the satisfaction of completing a program, knowing that at one time I was worried about sticking to a 10 day challenge. I love knowing that I've made at-home-workouts work for me, because they're my only option. As a SAHM with no access to babysitters or a gym membership, I've made the choice to be disciplined and make these programs work for me, not the other way around! I am now almost through my first month of Chalene Johnson's newest program PiYo and am loving the challenge. I can run around, hop, skip and weight train any day of the week, but focusing on stretching and strengthening my muscles through a program combining Pilates and Yoga is definitely a challenge, but I'm loving the challenge so far! I haven't felt so "jello-y" (I know that is not technically even a word, but I'm making it one) in a long time, and it's the challenge to stay focused and determined to finish the workouts that drives me to push that little triangle button every single day! I am hoping to order and start Insanity soon, as I think I am mentally and physically ready for the challenge. So, I'll let you know how that goes too ;)

In other news, I ran for the longest duration, in my life, ever!! Both my sister-in-laws are training for their 10k in less than 2 weeks, and a half marathon in October, so they invited me to hit the pavement with them. As reluctant as I was because of their insane abilities and endurance, I accepted the invitation and challenge. We ran 5.43 miles with LOTS of hills in just under 54 minutes, a pace that I know I was proud of! And the fact that we ALL ran the entire thing together. It may not seem like a huge deal to most, but these women were the reason I started running to begin with. Seeing how enthusiastic they were about it and how dedicated they both are to the sport peaked my interest, and then their motivation and encouragement brought me to where I am today. Literally, I would not have walked a mile last year, let alone run one! I didn't even start running until this spring. I am taking it slow, and haven't pushed my limits and most certainly am not doing any more than a 5k this summer, but I know that if and when I decide to take running to the next level, they will be right there to support me and help me along.

I really can't thank everyone enough for all the support on my fitness journey, my emotional journey, and especially my Body Positive Project, and this blog! The warm response has been overwhelming at times, and it honestly drives me to want to continue on this crazy ride just for the sake of keeping others motivated. Seeing their fire is what lights mine, and I could go on forever about how much I love my #FitFam, but I won't, considering I'm always so long-winded anyway :X
